Great video of a great model train layout, this has given me ideas and inspiration for my own model train project. Thank you.

mtrails October 19, 2007 at 4:48 am

This club layout has been around for 20 years, and it’s always being added to…

bobiscool54321 October 23, 2007 at 2:49 am

i like the long empty coal train

sort187 November 25, 2007 at 9:23 pm

What are the dimensions of the layout, and are there several different levels, or is it just one grade?

17kfan November 27, 2007 at 5:24 pm

I am going to start my first layout and I currently have a pair of Kato ac4000 locomotives, a dcc system and a 14 X 16 room. Any layout plan suggestions? Are the Katos any good or what do they compare to. i am new to this and my two sons want to start this prodject. I am trying to get some ideas off you vid. any advice will be helpful!!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!

mtrails December 1, 2007 at 4:38 am

The layout is like 40×20 roughly, and it’s one flat grade. Kind of boring most of the time.

mtrails December 1, 2007 at 4:45 am

Thanks! Kato units are among the very best.

I think I told some of your members about the layout at the Chicago Museum of Science and Indrustry, So, I just tried entering “Chicago Museum of Science and Industry Model Train Layout” and up popped a whole bunch of videos. I live in Billings and knew what YVMRC meant but others watching your video might not. Might be a good idea to use your whole name.

Cool vid, I liked the ore train.
I am planning on getting some BN ore cars myself, and I wondered if their were some downsides to them, like derailments and such. Thanks! :-)

mtrails October 13, 2008 at 11:55 pm

Thanks. I don’t know anything about the ore cars as they aren’t mine. The derailment was caused by the operator stopping his train to clean the loco wheels, and didn’t tell me, so I rear ended him.

Also Boogietrainz is doing this to advertise for his web site that sells model train accessories. Not that I would use that site to order things for my layout anyway. Just an addition to the heads up

MinnesotaRails December 2, 2008 at 9:33 pm

Yeah, I found that out, I wish there was a way he could be deleted……

CSX1987 December 3, 2008 at 7:35 pm

I wish I could tell you a way. Here’s a tip, maybe next time try to put a watermark on the video by using windows movie maker throughout the video.
